Wine throwing is nothing compared to this season's drama.

Viewers of Married At First Sight called for the show to be axed after Cyrell Paule threw a glass of red wine on her arch-nemesis, Martha Kalifatidis.

And while that was quite possibly the lowest point of the season and the trashiest moment in Australian reality TV history, this year’s contestants Cathy Evans and Josh Pihlak— who we saw wed during last night’s episode— revealed this morning that their co-stars are set to stoop even lower. I’m not sure how that’s even possible, but I guess we will have to wait and see!

Appearing on Nova 9.69 this morning after making their reality TV debut last night, when asked by Fitzy, Whippa and Sarah McGilvray what fans can expect in the drama department, the loved up bride and groom said things are about to get “very ugly”.

“It’s a circus,” logistics investigator Sarah said before adding that the feuds during this season are far worse than what we’ve seen to date.

“There was a glass of red wine thrown over someone in the last series. Can that be topped?” Fitzy asked. “Yep,” Josh and Cathy said simultaneously.

YIKES!

Their comments are a far cry from what Nine Network producers have been claiming, with Programming Director, Hamish Turner revealing during a recent interview that this season will be no nowhere near as scandalous as the last. In fact, he said it’s going to be “a delicate balance” between love and drama.

“There will be drama, there is no doubt and we’re not afraid of that. But the beginning of the show is definitely people looking for love and that should absolutely be the driving force behind it,” he said.

He also added that the network has recognised Australia may not be as receptive to the show as they were last year if the same kind of drama ensues.
“There is a certain amount of addressing last year. You can’t sanitise it too much [but] I think the mood of the nation has changed a little bit with the bushfires. I think people need a little more love because of all the travails we’ve been through over the last few months.”
