With six grandchildren under her wing, award-winning actress Goldie Hawn loves doting on her family but admitted in her memoir A Lotus Grows in the Mud that grandmother is a “word that had so many connotations of old age and decrepitude.”

“My son Oliver decided I should be called ‘Glam-Ma,’ which I thought was quite brilliant and made us all laugh so hard,” she wrote.

The First Wives Club actress is also referred to by another adorable nickname, that her duaghter Kate Hudson revealed on Instagram when she uploaded a video of Goldie walking with Kate’s daughter Rani Rose.

But according to New Idea, Fergie has declared she wants to be called “Duchy” instead of grandma or nanny.

“Lots of my friends call me Duch, so I think it will end up being Duchy. I call myself Duchess Doodle because I’m always doodling.”

Blythe Danner

According to her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow, actress Blythe Danner originally wanted to be called Woof by her grandchildren.

“My mom’s hot and she didn’t want to be called Grandma,” she said on Chelsea Lately. “So she kept trying to make the Woof thing stick. It’s even her e-mail address.”

Gwyneth’s children Apple and Moses, whom she shares with ex Chris Martin, instead call her Lalo.

She may not be a grandmother just yet, but when daughter Bindi gives birth to her baby girl, Terri won’t be known as granny.

“We spent a long time searching for grandma names that also had an animal link,” Bindi told pregnancy website The Bump.

“We decided that she’s going to be called ‘Bunny’. When she was growing up in Oregon her neighbour down the street was always called ‘Bunny.’ It only just dawned on us that it wasn’t her name but rather what everyone called her since she was a grandmother figure to the entire neighbourhood.”
