Jessica Mauboy has announced that she has welcomed her first child.
Sharing the exciting news to Stellar, the 35-year-old revealed that she and her husband Themeli Magripilis welcomed their daughter Mia on January 13, 2025.
“It has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but a magical one. I’m making up lots of lullabies for her.”
“I look at her and it’s, ‘Whoa!’ because I see myself [in] that little frown. She’s constantly changing every day. Another little roll, another crease.”
Reflecting on her decision to keep her pregnancy journey out of the public eye, Jessica shared that she hoped to savour the early “precious moments” of motherhood.
“Am I going to be a good mum? I wanted to hold space for myself, to be patient, and to give as much love and kindness to myself as my body was changing.”
“Like making a record, you have got to put yourself out there eventually, but it was about having these precious moments with her seen by myself.”
News of the couple’s growing family comes over six months after Jessica first announced that she was expecting her first child while on stage in Melbourne.
“To my family, this [pregnancy] is like a surprise and also, they’ve been waiting, but I’m like, ‘When I’m ready when it happens and it will be a blessing,’ and it really does feel like that.”
Prior to welcoming their first child, Jessica and Themeli previously opened up on their hope to become parents, telling WHO, “Having kids and getting married is something I can visualise, but it’s hard when you’re so deep in the creative process.”
“My sisters always say, ‘When are we going to have a little Jess or little Themeli running around?’ and Them’s parents are getting much older and they’re like, ‘When are you going to have a baby? I want to have a little grandson or granddaughter.’ They’re freaking me out!”
