Despite celebrating their engagement in 2017, Megan has shared that she and her fiance Shaun are in no hurry to tie the knot, telling Stellar’s Something to Talk About podcast, “It has been the longest engagement ever.”
“Look, it was always something that we were in no rush to do. Traditionally, everyone’s like, ‘Get engaged, plan the wedding, have the kids.’ I’ve never been a really big wedding girl. The whole lot seems like a lot of work for me. I’m just exhausted thinking about it.”
While she and Shaun may not be celebrating their nuptials any time soon, the 49-year-old model did share that her engagement played an important part in bringing together the couple’s family unit.
“There was a little thing where I was like … everyone else is getting [engaged]. Is he actually going to ask?… I think it was more because we had River, and then we had Rosie, and it felt like they were the Hampsons and I was Miss Gale over here. I kind of wanted to unite more.”

Megan Gale and Shaun Hampson first crossed paths in 2011 and while their connection may have initially started out as a “slow burn,” the couple were slowly able to cultivate their connection long-distance over Skype, with Megan being based in Sydney and Shaun based in Melbourne.
“It wasn’t that instant, see each other, fall in love, inseparable. I just found out after talking to him for a while that he had way more maturity and depth than I initially thought,” she told Australian Women’s Weekly in 2019.
Despite their conflicting schedules, Megan revealed that she and Shaun would often speak online from 8:00 pm to 4:00 am.
“It was that giddy, high school thing where you could sleep for two hours then wake up and feel refreshed and energised. You’re glowing and bolstered by this new connection.”
