As a chronically online girly, I am all too familiar with the lore of some of the internet’s most beloved it-boys. Austin Butler appearing on Hannah Montanna? Knew that. Callum Turner being a Reebok model? Obsessed.
Above all else, I have an undying love for our boy lil Timmy Tim (aka Academy Award-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet), so imagine my surprise when I uncovered that Timothée and the latest fan favourite of the moment Barry Keoghan were actually low-key besties?
While it’s unclear just when the duo struck up their friendship, social media has tracked pics of Timothée and Barry together as far back as 2018, with one of the earliest snaps being of the pair celebrating in the crowd at the 2018 Independent Spirit Film Awards.
Despite having not appeared in any films together, a quick deep dive down the Twitter rabbit hole revealed that there are actually multiple instances of Timmy and Barry being the silly goofy BFFs we deserve, with fans sharing screenshots of the duo face-timing and hanging out across the years.
Sure, a few fun selfies might be enough to make their friendship our latest hyper-fixation, but the actors have also been quick to praise one another’s work on the regular. We love a supportive friend!
“I love Timothée. I’m a massive, massive fan. That’s all I’ll say,” Barry shared during a press junket for Masters of the Air, before later naming Timothée as one of the most exciting young actors in an interview with MTV at the 2024 Golden Globes.
In keeping with the Masters of the Air hype, Timmy also gave his secret bestie a shoutout, telling Apple TV+, “Austin [Butler], Callum Turner, Barry Keoghan are some of the best young actors working right now… Doesn’t get much better than that.”
Although we don’t have too much information surrounding the origins of their bromance, we’ll desperately be counting down the days until Timothée and Barry make their next joint appearance (with matching friendship bracelets, hopefully).
