Over the weekend, a heartbroken Chelsie McLeod opened up about struggling to come to terms with her split from Matt Agnew, admitting in a candid Instagram post that the constant online hate isn’t helping her heal.

“This weekend I was meant to be at a four day festival. I am SO GLAD that I put myself first and opted out to have an alcohol free weekend while I attempt to get myself back to a good place,” Chelsie captioned a stunning photo of herself.
“Dealing with heartbreak SUCKS and dealing with harsh messages doesn’t help. I’ve been strong enough to deal with all of this but I am definitely worried for those that aren’t. We need to know that unwarranted opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt. THANK YOU to everyone that has had my back. It honestly means the world to me 🥰”
The Bachelor winner also shared two examples of the nasty messages and comments she’s been receiving on social media, with one abhorrent user branding her “crazy”, “clingy” and “not that hot” while another compared her body to Abbie Chatfield’s and called her a “dog”.
Expectedly, many of Chelsie’s co-stars rallied around her, with Elly Miles, Jessica Brody and Emma Roche encouraging the chemical engineer to focus on herself during this difficult period.
“You are so strong and you never fail to blow me away with how amazing you are Chels. Anybody who knows you can see your value. You light up every room and I’m so grateful for your friendship. Also, I will literally fist fight anyone who’s a meanie to you,” Jess wrote.
“You know what, some people just SUCK. They don’t know you, you are such a bloody angel Chels. You have a heart of pure gold & those who know you, know that & adore you for it 💛,” Bachie fan-favourite Elly added.
Emma also wrote: “Here for you hunni ❤️❤️❤️”
This year’s Bachelorette, Angie Kent, also weighed in on Chelsie’s devastating Instagram admission, saying those who are criticising her are deeply unhappy with themselves.
“It’s just so sad my love. No one knows what anyone is going through unless they are living that experience,” wrote Angie who found the man of her dreams— Carlin Sterritt— on the hit dating series. “And no one shares the exact same experience, ever. Because we are all different. You keep doing you. People who have horrible things to say are generally so unhappy within themselves. They need the most love out of any of us ❤️ I don’t know any happy people that would speak like that. Xx”
Since Matt and Chelsie confirmed they’d called time on their romance less than six months after filming for The Bachelor wrapped, her fiercely loyal co-stars have been there for her every step of the way. She’s even found an ally in Abbie Chatfield— who seemingly confirmed last week that infidelity really did spell the end of her short-lived romance with the astrophysicist.
Taking to her Instagram story, Abbie posted a shady meme showing Kylie Jenner holding a cocktail with the caption, “Remember, you’re not the only he’s texting.”
Interestingly, she’s not the first of Chelsie’s friends to allude to Matt cheating, with both Jessica Brody and Rachael Arahill echoing a similar sentiment on social media.
Amidst speculation he did the dirty on Chelsie, a source close to the one happy couple recently revealed Matt knew from day dot their romance wouldn’t stand the test of time.
According to New Idea’s source, the 32-year-old made it known he wasn’t interested in any of the women vying for his heart, however, a strict clause in his Network 10 contract prevented him from pulling a Honey Badger.
“He wanted to choose no-one, but obviously it was in his contract that he had to choose someone, so producers pushed him to pick Chelsie because she was the safe bet,” the source dished. “If it happened two years in a row, the whole franchise would be done.”
As per the insider, Matt was forced by producers to give scientist Chelsie the final rose, promising to stay with her until The Bachelor finale played out on our screens.
“If they announced their split during Angie’s season, it would have put a bad taste in viewers’ mouths and could have impacted the ratings. So, he was made to keep the act up and do the required media rounds with Chelsie until Angie’s season had finished airing.”
