Months after a brief Coldplay concert moment went viral and upended her life, Kristin Cabot, the woman seen on a kiss cam with former tech CEO Andy Byron, has spoken publicly for the first time about the incident.
First, a quick recap for those who might have been living under a rock when it happened. In July 2025, during Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour stop at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, a concert Jumbotron captured Kristin and Andy — then head of human resources and CEO, respectively, at tech firm Astronomer — in an intimate embrace. A fan caught the moment on video, and after it was posted to TikTok, it quickly went viral, drawing millions of views and intense online scrutiny.

Why were Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron cuddling?
In the video, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin can be heard commenting on the pair’s reactions, saying, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure.”
Speaking exclusively to the New York Times, Kristin, 53, described the moment as a “bad decision” fuelled by having “a couple of High Noons” and dancing with her boss. Though she made sure to be clear: this was their first and only kiss, dismissing the rumour that they were having an affair. “I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And it’s not nothing,” she said.
“I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”

What happened to Kristin Cabot?
Kristin, who’s a mum of two and had recently separated from her husband when the scandal exploded, added: “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”
According to Kristin, since the video went viral, she’s been the target of up to 60 death threats. “My kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die,” she said.
She also made a comment on the gender dynamics of the reception, noting she’s copped the most criticism from women. “What I’ve seen these last months makes it harder for me to believe that it’s all about the men holding us back,” she said. “I think [women] are holding ourselves back tremendously by cutting each other down.”
