Calling all Doctor Who fans! Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa is officially the new Doctor and after a few appearances in the 2023 Christmas Special, the latest season has finally dropped.  

Who is the new Doctor Who after Jodie Whittaker?

In May 2022 it was announced that Ncuti Gatwa would be taking on the iconic role of Doctor Who.

The 31-year-old has become the fifteenth doctor of the highly popular franchise following the departure of Jodie Whittaker.

“There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling,” Ncuti shared at the time of the announcement. “A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared.”

“This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.”

Who will be in Doctor Who in season 14?

Starring alongside Ncuti is Millie Gibson who will take on the role of Ruby Sunday – The Doctor’s human companion. 

Bonnie Lanford will be returning to her role of Mel Bush, Jemma Redgrave is reprising her role in the franchise as Kate Lethbridge-Bridge Stewart and Michelle Greenidge is joining the cast as Carla Sunday. 

Yasmin Finney, Jinx Monsoon, Anita Dobson and Folda Rosheuvel will also be appearing in the new season.

Is Doctor Who season 14 out? And Where to Watch in Australia

The first two episodes of the 2024 season premiered on May 11 at 11:00 am for Australian audiences on Disney+

The new season comes a few months after the 60th-anniversary special, which saw the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate and introduced Ncuti across a number of festive episodes. These are also available to watch on Disney+
