While we don’t know when everyone’s favourite polygamous dating show will return to Aussie screens, fans of Australia’s favourite vet, Dr Chris Brown, are holding out hope The Bachelor Australia will return with one very handsome leading man.

Unfortunately, the 44-year-old I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! co-host has previously shut down speculation he will appear on the Channel Ten dating show.

In 2021, Fitzy and Wippa questioned Chris over the rumours on their radio show when playing a game called “name your price”.

“There is talk that The Bachelor’s budget has gone even higher and they need an elite bachelor. What are we talking here, Browny? Name your price,” Fitzy laughed.

“Oh god! I don’t know if there is a price,” Chris responded.

Wippa then asked Chris if he would appear as the show’s leading man if he was offered two million dollars.

“It’s appealing. If you re-open the bucket list for the finale I’ll probably do it for 20 grand and a drinks card,” Chris joked.

Wippa also brought up rumours cricket legend Shane Warne could potentially star as next year’s Bachelor.

“This is why I could never do it.  I don’t want to stand in the way of Australia having Warnie as the Bachelor,” he laughed.

“Could you imagine, you couldn’t sleep at night knowing that’s what you’ve done to your nation.”

Chris revealed Channel Ten producers had approached him on one “official” occasion about the role.

“Then it’s sort of it’s just laughed off like ‘oh of course you, you might have a bit of time coming up you could probably’,” he said.

“And then we have an awkward laugh for like an uncomfortable period of time and it’s not brought up again.”

Another obstacle to the dreamy vet appearing on The Bachelor is that he may not actually be a bachelor!

While the star’s dating life is kept tightly under wraps, rumours have swirled for years about the status of his relationship with model, Brooke Meredith. The pair have reportedly been dating since 2020, but are rumoured to have an on-again-off-again relationship.

The Bachelor Australia franchise continues to battle low ratings, particularly during the latest season where three Bachelors took the spotlight.

The season 10 finale recorded the lowest ever finale ratings, with fewer than 400,000 people tuning in. The Bachelors, as the season was known, battled low ratings for the entire season, with fewer than 300,000 viewers per episode, compared to nearly a million viewers during its former glory days.

Could this spell doom for the franchise… or is it all the more reason to recruit a household name like Dr Chris Brown?
