If you see Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown busting a gut when they come back from a commercial break on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here this season, there’s a good reason for that, Brown tells WHO.
“You know inspirational quotes?” Brown asks. “We take great delight in finding the cheesiest ones and text them to each other,” he says. “In the ad breaks, we usually try to think of quotes and sayings to throw at each other, and our director is even involved, to the point that we can be five seconds from throwing it back live to Australia and we will basically put everything on hold if someone is about to come out with a quote.”
Therefore, “if we ever come out of an ad break laughing,” he says, “that’s probably because someone’s just come up with something with just two seconds to go.”
Brown and Morris, who are supervising the stars on Season 3 of I’m A Celebrity… (starting Jan. 29 on Ten), have refined this game, Brown says, “to the point where really bad ones you see on T-shirts and aprons? They’re extra points. So, ‘That’s not a bald spot — it’s a solar panel for a fax machine’ — that kind of stuff gets extra points. And bumper stickers are extra points as well. If you’ve got any of those, you’re way ahead.”
So does the winner take home a gong at end of the season? Concedes Brown, “I think the actual prize is when none of us are able to talk for at least 10 seconds when we come back on air.”
Brown says he and Morris may have different personalities, but “there is something about us where we complement each other and kind of fill in each other’s gaps in a way. Between the two of us, we present a fairly unique and hopefully interesting pair of people to watch for six weeks.”
Thinking back on when they first met, Brown adds that his first impressions of Morris as “absolutely, certifiably insane were correct, but in a great way. The thing with Julia is from the moment we met each other, we clicked.”
