With speculation mounting as to who will next fill the shoes of Secret Agent 007, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has thrown her name into the running.

In an interview with the UK’s Daily Star, the actress revealed that it would be a “dream” to play the iconic role.

“I have a lot of unrealised dreams. I would love to play Jane Bond,” said the 29-year-old.

“My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it,” she added.

The British actress’ declaration follows on from Gillian Anderson’s suggestion last week that she should replace Daniel Craig in the role after he turned down a reported $137 million deal to star in two more films.

“It’s Bond. Jane Bond. Thanks for all the votes! (And sorry, don’t know who made poster but I love it!) #NextBond,” the X Files star wrote on Twitter with a fake poster of her in role.

Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Tom Hardy are among the front-runners to take over where Craig left off. Vanity Fair reported that director of Skyfall and Spectre, Sam Mendes mentioned at the Hay Festival there is only one person who can determine who will play the iconic character, and her name is Broccoli, Barbara Broccoli.

Ms. Broccoli is the daughter of Albert Broccoli, the original producer of the Bond franchise and she is known for her unexpected casting choices.

Speaking of Broccoli, Mendes said, “Without that, there would be no Daniel Craig because public support for Daniel was zero. It was her saying ‘that man over there is going to change the whole thing, I’m going to cast him’”.
