Exactly two months before news broke that she was pregnant with her first child, supermodel Gigi Hadid gushed about starting a family.

In an interview with i-D magazine about the world of modelling, life in the spotlight and her plans for the future, the 25-year-old said of motherhood: “I think that as I get older… well one day I’ll start a family and I don’t know if I will always be modelling.”
Prior to this, the daughter of supermodel Yolanda Hadid told Extra in a red carpet interview last year that she’s excited to raise her little ones alongside her siblings’ kids.
“We have a, like, family farm that we go to a lot … yeah, all four of us might, like, maybe one day buy something together somewhere just so we can have all our kids together in one place. Not that I have kids yet, but one of my sisters has kids.”
Although they’ve remained radio silent about the baby news, family members, who wished to remain anonymous, told Entertainment Weekly she’s 20 weeks along. At this point in time, it’s unsure whether the on-again-off-again couple is aware of the baby’s gender.
“Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along. Once Gigi and Zayn got back together at the end of last year, it was like they never skipped a beat and knew what they had was special. The couple and their families are overjoyed.”
A source close to the couple also told Us Weekly: “Gigi and Zayn are so in love. She’s always wanted to start a family with Zayn.”
Since going public with their romance in November 2015, the runway model and her singer-songwriter beau, 27, have split on multiple occasions.
In 2017, the former One Direction crooner opened up about his relationship with Gigi, telling Us Magazine that they’re just like the rest of us— normal!
“There are a lot of people who are too busy in each other’s lives. I just concentrate on my relationship and try to do right by my girlfriend and she does by me, and we hope for the best, as we all do! We both look, so we like to make meals for each other. I make chicken and sweet corn pie. She likes that.”
“She’s super intelligent. I think that’s why we work so well,” Zayn also gushed to Elle UK. “And we do the same type of job, so we get that with each other.”
In March 2018, they briefly parted ways before rekindling their romance months later. By January 2019, they had called it quits again.
While she’s long remained tight-lipped about the state of their relationship, Gigi confirmed they were an item again in February 2020, calling the “Pillowtalk” singer her “Valentine” in an adorable Instagram post.
Then, last week on her 25th birthday, Gigi shared a few photos from her special day, one of which showed the star cuddling up to Zayn and her sister Bella Hadid.
“Had the sweetest day celebrating my 25th birthday with my quarantine family, who made it so special for me, along with all the love I felt from all over the world! Thank you to everyone for the birthday messages, I carried you with me yesterday!! 💛🙏” she captioned the emotional post.
“I am grateful and lucky that my family and friends -near and far- are healthy and safe, and although I missed loved ones I wish I could have celebrated with, know that these times will make us even more grateful for togetherness to be had in the future.”
