All those weeks, and you never got a single date. Why do you think Richie kept you around so long if he was never going to choose you for one?
I actually don’t know the answer to that because I never asked him. If you want to interview him after this and ask him, please let me know! Richie and I got along really well, we enjoyed each other’s company. I think it was a friendship over a relationship in the end. And he probably just liked my company so he just kept me there. I wasn’t actually sad about it.
But right before the rose ceremony, you said you would be heartbroken if he didn’t give you a rose.
You know, I was watching it back last night and I forgot I’d even said that. Like: whaaat?! When you’re in the house, it’s like a blur. I didn’t know what I was saying half the time. The producers do ask you questions and you kind of repeat them back sometimes. But I wasn’t heartbroken at all. By that point, I was definitely ready to go home.
Have you seen or spoken with Richie since you left the show?
I haven’t seen him.
What would you say to him if you did?
I’d probably have a beer with him. Richie and I get along so well. But it is definitely a mate thing. We friend zoned each other pretty early on. I’d love to talk to him and see how he’s going with his new missus. Actually, maybe we could all be together and then I could be the third wheel on another group dates. [Laughs]
Did you ever have feelings for Richie? Say, on that first night when you got out of the limo?
When I got out of the limo, there wasn’t an instant, love-at-first-sight feeling. I’ve never felt that, actually. Yeah—there was no spark at the beginning. There were girls giving him poems and I had given him cold meat! So I’m pretty sure I definitely friend zoned myself with that one. I’m fully aware of how Richie felt with, I guess, the girls and there were frontrunners that we could see. I kinda just – after not getting a single date and that went on for awhile – just decided to have fun. So, no regrets.
Have you been offered free bacon?
Well, I am waiting for a sponsorship with Hans meat. I’m just dropping it everywhere so they can just give it to me. I feel awkward when I go to order breakfast now, like they’re just waiting for me to say it. Maybe I don’t want bacon today! Maybe I just want some smoked salmon. Maybe I’ve just got to get a whole shopping list tattooed on my calf and then I’ll be able to get whatever I want for free.
One website recap I read said that Richie would never go for you because you are “brunette, has an opinion.” What do you make of that assessment?
I haven’t heard that one. But I’m happy that people think I have my own opinion. I know there has been a real conspiracy theory about the whole blondes versus brunettes thing with Richie. But I asked Richie. He does like blondes, they are his type. Yet all his ex-girlfriends are brunette! So… make your own conclusions, I guess.
Richie sure seemed keen on exploring a future with Faith on their date in last night’s episode.
I know! I was surprised! Like, really surprised to hear him say those things— what kids we’ll have, will you move to Perth. Obviously he sees a future with her, or he wouldn’t be saying those kinds of things. I think, one hundred per cent, that she will end up in the final four.
Keira has mentioned in previous interviews that the two of you were quite close. Why do you think that was?
The Keira you saw on TV was Keira as she is, obviously amplified a little bit. She speaks her mind, and is very honest. That’s a great quality to have. Sometimes there’s no filter there, but … she was just saying the things everyone was thinking and just wouldn’t say. I’m not that kind of person—I just don’t really see the bad in people. She’s very loud and outspoken and confident, obviously. I like to be around people who know who they are and know what they want.
The longer the show goes on, the more it seems like people are turning against Alex. What can you say about her?
I was really, really close to Alex. I consider her a good friend now. But I’ve heard this. People are perceiving her as kind of crazy as the show’s gone on, but everyone was that way. Everyone cried the same amount as she does. I cried quite a lot, probably because of the alcohol. I missed my friends, I missed my family, and sometimes I just didn’t want to be there—you question yourself a lot while you’re in the house. And, you know, girls cry a lot!
