Fans of The Good Doctor are getting ready for Season Two and even Freddie Highmore (who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy) is excited about the show’s future.

Speaking with the Daily Telegraph, the 26-year-old British actor opened up about how he’d love to see his character develop. “I like the idea of Shaun at the helm, as president of the hospital,” Highmore said. “I’d love for him to be at the point where things he says won’t be questioned and would just be adhered to, but he’s got a lot of time to get there.”

The show has only been aired for one season and has been highly praised in rave reviews, despite its competition in the medical drama TV genre. “Shaun makes the genre we’ve seen many times before different because of his unique perspective,” Highmore told the publication. “So much of the show is about morality. And although I would trust his morality, it’s not a clear-cut answer. Shaun has weaknesses.”

When the actor isn’t filming, he keeps a low profile at his home in Vancouver. In an interview with New Idea, Highmore spoke of his life away from Hollywood and insisted he makes time for dating.

“It could quickly become very lonely if you were living in Vancouver on your own for eight months of the year without seeing anyone else,” he said. “The cast are great but you want to have those other experiences too, so yeah, there’s time for that and it’s in a quieter way in Vancouver.”

Highmore told the Daily Telegraph, “It feels like home now even though London is where I grew up.”

The Good Doctor Season Two starts on Oct. 2 on Channel Seven.
