Game of Thrones fans were left in shock this morning after HBO announced the cancellation of the prequel spin-off show, which starred Naomi Watts.

However, in a wild turn of events, a new HBO prequel series in the Game of Thrones world has been announced, titled House of the Dragon.
With that name, it’s not hard to assume what the show is going to be about… it will focus on the history of the House Targaryen, Daenerys’ ancestors.
It will be set 300 or so years before the original series, and while it sounds similar to the original prequel that was announced, it’s completely different.
The original which reportedly taking place in Valyria, thousands of years before the main show. It was also meant to focus on the Targaryen history.
While we might not want to get our hopes up about this new series following the cancellation of the original this morning, what may ease your mind is that HBO has ordered a 10 episode series. The former only had a pilot episode.
House of the Dragon is reportedly an adaptation from George RR Martin’s Fire and Blood, reports Forbes.
Similarly to Game of Thrones, the author may not have much input into the series, as there is quite a lot of source material that isn’t written. That’s right, just like most of Martin’s work, it’s unfinished.
Unlike the previous prequel, which starred Naomi Watts and 15 other known cast members, we don’t know any casting for House of the Dragon.
Right now there is no official release date.
