“Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you everyone who donated and supported me through @dryjuly,” she captioned her Instagram post, with a receipt of how much money she had raised.

“I am THRILLED to have raised more than $6000, but that’s only a small part of the massive $325,724 raised for @pancarefoundation by many more amazing fundraisers!!!”

“I am so grateful. All of this money will go towards helping families going through pancreatic cancer journeys as well as vital research into finding ways to detect and treat this terrible disease.”

Georgia also said giving up alcohol for the month had its health benefits too.

Not only of the “unsexy” stats about pancreatic cancer that stop people talking about it, but also around the links between alcohol and certain cancers,” she said.

“We have a terrible binge drinking culture in Australia and I think it’s important and necessary for us all to look into the health benefits of having even a few less wines/beers/gins each week. And if it reduces my risk of cancer? I won’t drink to that.”

Georgia’s beloved mother Belinda Love lost her battle with pancreatic cancer aged 60 just weeks after the journalist found love with her Bachelorette winner, Lee Elliott in 2016 and only a day after the finale aired.

“In the space of 24 hours, we went from having one of the happiest moments where we could finally be in the same room together and tell everybody how we feel and be able to relax and literally 24 hours later I got the worst phone call of my life,” she said on The Project shortly after the show’s final episode.

“It’s been incredibly difficult but would’ve been so much more difficult if Lee hadn’t had been there.”
