She’s been in the industry since she was 16 but now, for the first time, Home and Away’s Ada Nicodemou is posing in front of the cameras makeup free. “I was ready to cancel,” she says, of participating in WHO’s annual Stars Without Makeup special. “I’ve never had flawless skin, so I’ve had to work at it.”
But now, proudly baring all, the actress, 39, reveals her secrets to inner beauty – as well as some makeup tricks she’s picked up over the years.
Your skin looks great in this shoot, but you say you haven’t always had good skin right?
I’ve got oily skin but I guess that means I will age better. My mum has hardly any wrinkles so I am really lucky there. But then the flip side of all that is I did have acne when I was younger. If I get a pimple, my skin scars. And I pigment really easily.
What is your favourite feature on your face?
I would say my eyes!
What’s your favourite beauty product?
I wish I could pick one because there are so many but a good cleanser! And I use a different cleanser for different times of the day. A glycolic cleanser at my age is really important.
Do you experiment with makeup?
It depends. If I am doing a shoot, then I do. And I have every lipstick colour and eyeshadow you could think of! But to be honest, if I am doing my own makeup, I tend to do what I know works.
What makes you feel confident in yourself?
I love the feeling you get after exercise. I so get off on that. Exercise is my thing. At the moment, I’m working crazy hours and I’m okay to do that as long as I’m exercising. I need that endorphin rush. It keeps me mentally okay.
