Reeling from their respective divorces last summer, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani forged a friendship that turned into an unlikely romance – and now a year later, the two are happier than ever.
“Before dating Blake, Gwen seemed lost,” a Stefani source tells WHO exclusively about the singer, who announced her split from ex Gavin Rossdale last August. “She had the roughest time with her divorce and was trying to be positive about her future, but she found life very difficult.”
Stefani, 46, found a source of support in Shelton, 40, who announced his divorce from Miranda Lambert just weeks prior. “They almost rescued each other,” says the Stefani source.
Now a year past their heartbreaking splits, Shelton “is a better and happier person,” says a source close to the couple. “The divorce had its place in Blake’s life, but he doesn’t dwell on it. He’s come full circle and moved on with his life and is more grateful than he’s ever been.”
The couples’ families have also spent quality time together on the country singer’s Tishomingo ranch, and “they love each other,” adds the insider.
Says the Stefani source: “All the things that need to work out for two people to merge lives have worked out. Everyone close to them is very happy they are together.”
