Christina Grimmie’s tragic death saw hundreds of people showing their respects at a candlelight vigil on Monday, 13th June in her hometown of Evesham, New Jersey.
The 22-year-old singer was fatally shot on Friday, 10th June whilst signing autographs for fans after a concert in Orlando. The gunman, Kevin Loibl, was tackled three times by Christina’s brother, Marcus, before the gunman shot and killed himself.
Those who were at the vigil crowded in a circle around photos of Christina, according to The Courier Post. One of Christina’s close friends told the news source that it didn’t feel real, “but we’ll see her in heaven.”
Grimmie’s brother Marcus delivered a heartbreaking speech at the vigil, “Christina was awesome…She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she loved the Lord and she loved me and she was just my baby sister,” he said.
Fans who were at the vigil took to social to share the love and remembrance for the young singer.
Christina’s singing success started after she was placed 3rd in the television series, The Voice. She was coached by Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine, who has reportedly offered to pay for the funeral. A funeral date has not yet been announced.
