From Connie’s confidence issues to his lack of attraction, for weeks now, viewers knew that these two were doomed.

MUST WATCH: MAFS’ Connie confirms Jonethen and KC hooked up

And while their final vows spoke volumes about their joint admiration for each other, nowadays, there’s certainly no love lost.

Speaking about the breakdown of their imperfect relationship, Connie— who has since found love again— said she cut all ties with the groom after he swapped going to her birthday party for a paid club event. Then, of course, there were Jonethen’s claims that MAFS showrunners forced him to stay in the experiment after revealing more than once that he was desperate to quit.

But before Jonny bailed on Connie’s birthday celebrations, the pair paid tribute to each other in their final vows – and it kinda brought a tear to our eyes!

CONNIE’S FINAL VOWS

“Jonny, when I first entered the experiment, I was an anxious, awkward introvert. I had very low self-esteem, and I didn’t think very highly of myself. I desperately wanted to be loved, and to love somebody in return, but I was a girl that felt invisible to the world. I knew the odds were against me, but I decided to defy my fears and the wishes of my family, and take a leap of faith. That brave leap lead me straight to you, Jonny. I went weak at the knees when I first locked eyes with your heart-melting smile. I felt like I could finally put a face to my dream man. I hoped you were the unexpected moment I’d been waiting for and I put all my hope into you, a stranger. I soon learnt that you had confidence beaming off you, something I never had. And I couldn’t believe that I got to start a new chapter of my life, with you. But it didn’t take long for me to realise that we were on different levels with our emotions, and cracks started to form in the relationship. I took a turn for the worst, and I started to lose hope and I lost myself. I made it almost impossible for you to love me. This is when I knew something had to change. I had to change. I needed to become the best version of myself possible. I could sense that you were ready to leave, so I made it my absolute priority to fight for us, to fight for you. And I refused to go down without a fight. But despite all the determination, and all the fight, you checked out on us, on me. So I had to make the hardest decision of my life – to quit and leave, or continue my journey and see it out until the end. I made a commitment not only to you, but to myself, and to this experiment, and I needed to honour myself, and give this journey absolutely all of me. I sacrificed so much to be here, I put my heart on the line and at this point I was at my most vulnerable. But I had to put myself first. For the first time in a long time. I stand by my decisions, and while I didn’t find love with you, I have found something so much more important. Something so valuable. I have found that I am brave, I am strong, I am confident, and I am worthy. Ultimately, I found myself. Before this experiment, I was a shy, insecure girl. Now in front of you, I am a proud, confident woman who now understands her worth in this world. The only love and approval I need, is from myself. And I became the love I was searching for. But I could never have done any of this without you. So thank you, Jonny. For this I will be forever grateful. You will always hold a special place in my heart. This might be the end of our journey, but it’s only the beginning of mine.”

JONNY’S FINAL VOWS

“Connie. Firstly, I’d like to thank you for taking this leap of faith and riding this journey with me. We both entered this experiment with an open mind, and an open heart, and high hopes of finding love. Once I saw you walking down the aisle with a big smile and we met for the first time, you immediately put me at ease. I thought the experts had got it right – I thought this girl could be the one. You’re smart, funny, and as long as you’ve had a soy latte, you’re ready to go on any adventure. Being spontaneous is something I’ve loved about you, as your husband. You’ve taught me to be more sensitive and patient, and I’m much more emotionally intelligent and more sure of what I need in a partner. You’ve open my eyes to new experiences, the good and the bad. I feel that a romantic spark never blossomed for us, but a strong friendship has. Connie, I’d like to say thank you, because I can’t say I am the person I am today without you and the experiences we’ve had together. Throughout this experiment, I’ve seen you transform from a quiet, shy girl to an outspoken, confident and strong-willed woman. I also want to thank you for writing ‘stay’, when I was ready to leave, and for believing in this relationship. I feel like we are both better equipped partners standing here today, just not the partners for each other.”

Now, let’s take a walk down memory lane.

Three months ago, Jonny and Connie exchanged vows as strangers. These were their promises…

CONNIE’S ORIGINAL VOWS

“To give you a small insight on who I am, I’m an academic that is passionate for all things within natural sciences. As an aspiring marine biologist you’ll find me in my element when I’m by the ocean.

“I have an animated and playful personality. In my world the glass is always half-full. I’m a sensitive soul, so I hope you can be attentive when I need a shoulder to cry on, and accept me for all that I am.

“I promise to you that throughout this journey I will give you my true authentic self, companionship and commitment.

“From this day forward, what I can bring to this marriage is adventure, passion, fun facts about fish, and hopefully one day love.”

JONNY’S ORIGINAL VOWS

“The best way to describe what I’ve always wanted in a wife is a best friend — someone to laugh uncontrollably with, drink lots of wine with, and who I can’t stand to be separated from.

“I’ll be committed to you, love you, care for you and always put you before me, give you everything I have to offer.

“In this unconventional setting I give you my unconventional love.”
