Jake Gyllenhaal is smarter than he looks.. and he’s not afraid to show it. Even if it makes everyone around him cringe.

In possibly one of the most awkward interviews we have ever had the pleasure of watching (over and over again), Jake and the cast of the Velvet Buzzsaw were casually chatting about the upcoming Netflix horror with The Hollywood Reporter.

The director, Dan Gilroy— who has worked with some of the world’s most respected actors— stepped in to talk about Jake’s co-star’s character and how there are “many sides to her” that “haven’t been shown on film.”

Deep into a very riveting explanation, he accidentally mispronounced the word ‘melancholy’.

“It’s MEL-AN-CHOLY,” Jake butted in, slowly sounding out the word as if Dan was back in primary school.

“I always get that word wrong,” Dan said awkwardly as the actor rolled his eyes and shook his head in disbelief.

Jake who was visibly irritated then sarcastically added, “and that’s not the first time today,” the respected producer had mispronounced the four syllable word.

One thing’s for sure… If you’re ever in the presence of the Spider-Man: Far From Home actor, you better bring your A-game. Because if you put one foot out of line, he will roast you and make you look, and feel, like an absolute fool!

Ugh, what a travesty.
