It’s been almost 10 years, since we last saw Jamie Lynn Spears in the spotlight, but now she’s back!
The former star of the Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101, opens up about her dramatic teenage years as a young mother and her new country music in a TLC special, Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out.
In a newly released teaser- clip from the show, Spears, who is now 25-years-old, breaks into tears whilst she recalls the motivation for her song “When the Lights Go Out”. Jamie reveals that she wrote the song during the first night, her now 8-year-old daughter Maddie, spent the night away from her.
In the video Spears says, “She was with her dad for the first time, and I was by myself,” Spears tells the camera. “In that moment, I called Daddy, and I was by myself, and I was just like, ‘I want to be able to let people into that side of me because that’s the story. That’s why I’m singing and that’s why I’m doing it.'”
Spears, who is from Louisiana, got pregnant at just 16-years-old with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge. However, Jamie has since found love after marrying Jamie Watson in March 2014.
Jamie has spent the last several years working on her own country music, and states in the clip that she would like to distinguish this new career from her past, “I think a lot of people would like to look at me debuting my new music and everything as a comeback,” continuing, “But truthfully, I was known for Zoey, I was known for being a teen mom, I was known for being Britney’s sister.”
Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out” airs on TLC Sunday, June 26.
