They’ve been friends for years after meeting as young students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and Jessica Marais and Hugh Sheridan have continued their close relationship well beyond playing Rachel and Ben Rafter on Seven’s hit show Packed to the Rafters since it wrapped in 2013.
Getting in on the Snapchat trend, Sheridan, 30, and Marais, 31, took some time off from running lines with each other for their latest shows to pull a few funny faces on the popular app.
Since leaving the nest on ‘Rafters’, Marais has spent time in Los Angeles and played the lead in several Australian and international productions, taking home a Silver Logie this year for Best Actress in the 1960s drama Love Child.

She’s currently filming the screen version of Zoe Foster-Blake’s The Wrong Girl in Melbourne, and was seen this week chatting during a break in filming with co-star Ian Meadows, 33. Buzz is that Marais—who split with fiancé James Stewart, father of her daughter Scout, 4, last year—has “chemistry” with the Rush actor; she’s stayed mum on that but said this month she’s happy again: “I love going to work every day.”
Meanwhile, Logie winner Sheridan has concentrated on humanitarian work as well as acting. His younger brother Zachary was caught up in last year’s Nepal Earthquake, with Hugh travelling to the grief-stricken nation to offer help. Since then, he’s used his profile to raise funds for ongoing emergency and relief efforts in Nepal.
This year, the singer-actor will join Gary Sweet, Firass Dirani, Guyton Grantley and Rhys Muldoon on House Husbands, playing a music teacher. “I am pumped to get on set and rock with the cast,” he said in March.
