Brody Jenner and his ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter had what could’ve been a very awkward run-in earlier this week when they were spotted attending the same event at a popular Los Angeles night club.

According to ET’s eyewitness, The Hills: New Beginning stars— who confirmed in a statement in August they’d called time on their one-year-long marriage— instantly spotted each other, however, avoided making eye contact because they were both on dates with new people. Yep, that’s right, Kaitlynn has officially moved on from Miley Cyrus, just weeks after the songstress sensationally dumped her and began dating Cody Simpson.
“Carter was seen texting up a storm before making her way out of the packed club hand-in-hand with her new beau,” an onlooker told ET, adding her friends kept a close eye on Brody— who was partying on the other side of the club.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner’s son— who reportedly split from his model girlfriend of three months, Josie Canseco, in October— was hanging out with Frankie Delgado and his “new girl” who, at this point in time, we really know nothing about.
Earlier this week, Kaitlynn opened up about going through two breakups in the space of two months, taking to Instagram to share her top tips on how to move on.
“I was not OK or thriving AT ALL for a while,” the 31-year-old revealed in a series of Instagram Stories.
“For me staying busy did help and at the end of the day, I still had to work/attend events so I had to keep it moving on social media,” she continued. “When I was alone I was very sad and in my head about all of it,” she said of her break-ups. As I’ve said before, there’s really no way around it. You just have to go through it.”
Perhaps alluding to how quickly she got with Miley following her break up from Brody, the blonde star continued: “I know that dating before I’m ready would’ve made things so much worse cause I would’ve just been trying to replace someone else and ended up disappointed,” she explained. “I think it’s sooooo key to take as much time as you can to get comfortable completely on your own so that when you do date someone new you’re not dragging baggage into that relationship and also you aren’t compromising on what you want out of loneliness/panic.”
She also touched on her whirlwind summer, falling in love with Miley and their subsequent split in a touching and deeply personal essay for Elle.com.
“This past July, I went on vacation with a female friend; the next thing I knew, I was in love with her,” Kaitlynn wrote.
“Until that trip, it had never crossed my mind that I was even capable of loving a woman the way I loved her. As my friend and I spent that August travelling through Europe together and trying to move past our respective breakups, my first and only romance with a woman was born. It just happened and it felt exactly right.”
“Reflecting back on our three-year friendship, I realized I’d always been drawn to her in a way I wasn’t with other friends, but until that trip, it had never crossed my mind to think of her in a romantic sense.”
Despite only dating for six weeks— with People reporting Miley called time on their romance because it was moving too fast— Kaitlynn said her relationship with the “Slide Away” singer helped her discover critical parts of her identity she had subconsciously suppressed.
“While it was short-lived, I’ll remain eternally grateful to my most recent relationship for opening my eyes to this unexplored part of myself, and for inspiring a new level of self-discovery and wonder at all the possibilities of life. I’ve been forced to get to know myself in a far deeper way than ever before, and not just in terms of my sexual preferences. I’ve also been forced to reckon with who I am as a person.”
She concluded: “Although the relationship with my friend was often referenced in the media as merely a ‘summer fling’ or a ‘same-sex affair,’ it was so much more than that. This was a profound journey of self-discovery. For the first time, I listened to myself, forgot about the ‘norm,’ and lived. Remain curious. Know that there are many layers within you—and they just might be the most invaluable ones.”
Since breaking her silence on their whirlwind romance, Kaitlynn’s Hills co-star Whitney Port confirmed she’s doing surprisingly well considering the circumstances.
“She’s fine,” the reality TV star told Us Weekly. “I mean, I haven’t — I don’t talk to her on a daily basis, but, like, last time I was with her she was happy and taking care of herself.”
