Kendall Jenner And More Face Social Media Backlash for Promoting Disastrous Fyre Festival

Not good.

With the help of Hollywood’s most glamorous models and influencers, Fyre Festival was billed as music festival heaven for those willing to shell out up to $250,000 for a single weekend.

But when festival-goers arrived to the private island in the Bahamas, there was reportedly nothing but chaos awaiting them — and a sad cheese sandwich.

Now, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Baldwin, Chanel Iman and more are facing major backlash on social media for urging their fans to purchase tickets to the event.

According to Vanity Fair, the festival’s organizers Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland flew out a group of models for a promotional photo shoot last November.

Jenner— who recently found herself at the centre of a social media storm over a controversial Pepsi ad that was slammed as tone-deaf and has since deleted an promotional Instagram for Fyre Fest — is receiving the harshest criticism out of all the models.

Ja Rule released a statement on Twitter Friday afternoon. “We are working right now on getting everyone of [sic] the island SAFE that is my immediate concern,” he wrote.

“I’m heartbroken at this moment my partners and I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM … I truly apologize as this is NOT MY FAULT… but I’m taking responsibility,” continued the star.

Originally set over “two transformative weekends” on the private island of Fyre Cay, Ja Rule and McFarland promised performances by Blink 182, Rae Sremmund, Skepta, Desiigner, Tyga and Pusha T.

“After much careful and difficult consideration, we want to let you know that we won’t be performing at Fyre Fest in the Bahamas this weekend and next weekend,” Blink 182 said via a Twitter statement. “We’re not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performance we always give fans.”
