Kyle Sandilands is known for his brassy humour and cocksure opinions but the shock jock is not all barbs and bristles and his relationship with 38-year old Tegan Kynaston, shows there is a gentler side to the KIIS FM radio host.
We take a look back at how the pair met and how their love story is faring four years on.
How did Kyle and Tegan meet?
Kynaston used to work for Sandilands! The pair were friends for four or five years, moving in the same social circles while Sandilands, now 53, was in a relationship with socialite, Imogen Anthony.
Then, in 2017 Kynaston reached out to him, asking for a job and he hired her as an office manager for his media company King Kyle.
The pair kept their relationship strictly business but when Sandilands’ eight-year relationship to Anthony crumbled he admits Kynaston became his rock.
“I was single for a while, and I leaned on [Tegan] a lot,” the KIIS FM presenter told the Daily Mail.
Living in a hotel for months while he got through his heartbreak he started to see Kynaston as more than just a friend and confidant.
“She was single and I was single for the first time [in a while]. And I think we never really thought of each other in that way, we just appreciated each other and were genuinely friends. And it just blossomed from there,” he said.
How long have Kyle and Tegan been together?
The pair went Instagram official on December 6, 2019, when they were photographed having a drink together on Kynaston’s Instagram. Then on New Year’s Eve there was a photo of Kynaston kissing Sandilands and the relationship officially had lift off.
It wasn’t long before Sandilands popped the question.
In January 2022, during a holiday at his house in Port Douglas, he got down on one knee with a sparkler worth an estimated $1.14 million.
“Tegan’s ring is an emerald-cut diamond set on a split shank platinum band,” Tobias Kormind, the managing director of Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller, 77 Diamonds, told the Daily Mail.
“[It would be] worth over $1.14million for a decent quality diamond, at least F colour, VS1 clarity.”
Is Kyle Sandilands a dad?
A month after their engagement announcement the shock jock had another shock to share.
Kynaston was pregnant with his first child. He told listeners on his show: “I’m having a baby, baby!” He then added in typical Sandilands style that he wants “either a girl… or a little gay son.”
On August 18, 2022 Kynaston gave birth to baby Otto.
Just two months later, Kyle revealed the couple were already thinking of expanding their family.
“We did talk about another one, possibly we started talking about that on the weekend,” he said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Is Tegan Kyle Sandilands wife?
On April 29th, 2023 Sandilands and Kynaston got married at a lavish ceremony rumoured to have cost over $1 million.
It was attended by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, notorious Sydney underworld figure and groomsman John Ibrahim, Karl Stefanovic, Sandilands’ co-host Jackie Henderson, and even Guy Sebastian who serenaded the newlyweds.
Baby Otto was the star of the show and he then accompanied his parents on their honeymoon to the South of France.
What does Tegan Kynaston do for a living?
Previously Kynaston has worked in advertising and in 2017 went to work for Sandilands as an office manager.
In January 2019, before they were a couple the pair launched their own sangria brand Nueva Drinks Co.
What is Kyle Sandilands salary?
Sandilands is definitely the major earner in the relationship and in November 2023, it was revealed Sandilands had signed a 10-year, A$200 million deal. It’s a record for the Australian market.
It means he earns a base salary of $10 million, plus bonus total stock options valued at $14 million.
