Joshua Bingle is something of a local celebrity in his own right after appearing on his sister’s short-lived reality TV show Being Lara Bingle.

Airing for just one season in 2012, the show was met with mixed reviews but Josh managed to squeeze a bit of fame, or should we say infamy, out of the appearance.

There was also an awkward run-in with the law when he was charged with drug possession in 2018.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about Lara Worthington’s brother Joshua Bingle.

Who is Joshua Bingle?

Joshua, 38, is the son of Sharon and Graham Bingle and elder brother of Australian model and media personality Lara Worthington (née Bingle).

The tradesman generally keeps his personal life private and is only rarely in the spotlight, usually while spending time with his famous sister, brother-in-law Sam Worthington and their kids.

“Everyone loves to hate Lara but I don’t really know how she can fix it,” he said of Lara in a 2012 interview, when she was still a tabloid target.

“She’s really not that bad. She doesn’t do anything that warrants some of the things people say about her so it’s a bit upsetting.”

While there’s no concrete details about who he’s dating right now, Josh appeared to debut a new romance on Instagram in April 2022 with a series of black and white snaps with a brunette woman.

Was Joshua Bingle on TV?

Joshua starred on the first and only season of his sister’s show, Being Lara Bingle, which saw him sharing a Bondi home with Lara and her best mate and manager, Hermione Underwood.

The reality TV series debuted to great ratings, with Josh quickly becoming a fan-favourite, and there were hopes that it would become a winner for Network Ten.

Josh was keen for the show to be a success, telling Confidential: “It’s a really big risk and no one has ever done something like this in Australia, because there aren’t many people you could make a whole show about.”

Throughout the first season, Josh and Hermione teased a possible romance and even slept together, which Lara wasn’t too happy about.

But the show – and Josh’s flirtations with Hermione – didn’t really go anywhere and it was canned after a single season, with Josh remaining single.

Was Joshua Bingle convicted of drug possession?

Yes. On January 21, 2018 police caught Josh with an 0.6 gram bag of cocaine in his left pocket after a sniffer dog “made an indication” while he was heading out of a Kings Cross nightclub in Sydney.

In court, Josh pleaded guilty and claimed through a lawyer that he was given the drugs by friends on a “night out” and that the possession charge was “out of character”.

He also referenced losing his and Lara’s father “at a young age” and having to help guide his sister through the acting industry, adding that he and Lara were still very “close”.

The tradesman was convicted and fined $300.

Prior to his 2018 conviction, Josh was fined $800 and placed on an 18-month good behaviour bond after admitting to punching a man on Melbourne Cup Day at Randwick Racecourse in 2012.

He was also fined $800 in 2004 after he was convicted of stealing from a home or dwelling.
