Laura Byrne and Matty J had the ultimate love story on The Bachelor back in 2017 and now the season five winner has shared some hilarious throwbacks from a very special date.

Taking to Instagram, Laura, who co-hosts podcast Life Uncut with fellow Bachie alum Brittany Hockley, shared three stills from the episode when she and Matty J had their first date and had to draw sketches of each other. And let’s just say the throwback reminded us all of the then Bachelor’s questionable art skills.

“In the spirit of Bachi season someone on the @lifeuncutpodcast group dug up this truely remarkable sketch of me and the hyper realism of @matthewdavidjohnson’s talent still blows me away. It’s the goatee for me 😂,” Laura laughed in her caption.

Bachie fans couldn’t help but laugh at the sketch throwback that Laura at the time called “possibly the most offensive thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life”.

“Now that is a true piece of art 😉❤,” joked one.

“Literally laughed out loud – still absolute gold,” another commented on Laura’s post.

“LB, the resemblance is uncanny,” a third penned.

The artwork on that first date may have been hilarious but it was also the spot of the couple’s very first kiss.

From that moment, Laura became a frontrunner and no one was surprised when Matty declared his love for her in the season five finale in Thailand.

The rest as they say, is history!

Matty and Laura are now the proud parents to Marlie Mae, born in June 2019, and Lola Ellis, born in February 2021.

They are also set to tie the knot in November this year, but Laura has revealed before that the wedding itself isn’t something that’s really important to her.

“To be honest I have a very strong feeling that our wedding’s going to be postponed because of COVID which is really annoying,” she mused on her podcast Life Uncut.

“Even if it does get delayed I know there’s so many other people out there who’ve done the same thing and then they’ve still had a wonderful wedding at the end of it anyway.”
