Lena Dunham, who has been showing off a slimmer silhouette while promoting the sixth and final series of her hit comedy Girls, has revealed that her new figure is in fact a side-effect of the election on President Trump.
“Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food,” she told radio host Howard Stern on Feb. 6 after he complimented her look. “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.’”
Dunham, 30, has long been an outspoken critic of Trump however has recently expressed a desire to avoid insulting his appearance. “All he does is talk about women like they’re objects,” she said. “It doesn’t reclaim our power to talk about him like he’s an object. It doesn’t reclaim our power to insult his physicality.”
