Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston aren’t the only high profile couple whose romance blossomed with a dance at the Met Gala.
Back in 2005, Liev Schreiber, 48, was a single man, and invited to the exclusive fashion ball where he met his now longtime partner Naomi Watts, 47.
Schreiber recalled feeling out of place before meeting the Australian actress with whom he shares sons Alexander, 9 and Samuel, 8.
“She said, ‘What are you doing later on—you want to go dancing?’ And I was like, yeah,” the Ray Donovan star told Esquire magazine. “So I went down to this club that she told me to meet her at, and of course she was there with Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro.”

While Schreiber had met her once before briefly, that evening he waited for the chance to reconnect: “I think I was nervous, and I felt very embarrassed being there, and self-conscious, because all these movie stars were hovering.”
“I felt. . .awkward and out of my element. And I wasn’t going to make a good impression. So I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I gotta go home.'”
But as fate would have it, that wasn’t the end of their encounter.
As Schreiber was leaving Watts stopped him in his tracks, “Don’t you want my digits?” she asked the tall Yale alum.

Describing the actress as his “ray of light,” the couple have now been together for over a decade.
According to Watts, Schreiber is a trusting person. “I think ultimately he is looking for authenticity—within others and himself.”
As for her pick up line, “I’ve never said those words before in my life and never since.”
