We all know The Bachelor isn’t the first reality TV rodeo for Lachlan “Locky” Gilbert.
His first foray was in season two of Network Ten’s Australian Survivor in 2017 before returning for another shot at glory in Australian Survivor: All Stars three years later.

And while Locky himself has revealed how excited he is to be the new Bachelor, just what do his All Stars tribemates and rivals think about the big move?
Brooke Jowett, who was Locky’s “ride or die” in All Stars, has been candid about her budding romance with the adventurer coming to a spectacularly public end.
“I was blindsided,” she admitted to on the Shameless podcast earlier this year.
“I had these plans with him and obviously they’re not going ahead. So that’s hard to deal with,’ she said, referring to her plans to travel to Bali with Locky.
“I do feel screwed over. I do feel hurt, but Locky is just a small part of my story.”
The new Bachelor promo shows Locky locking lips with a number of women and struggling to make a choice at the end. And it seems this was something predicted by Survivor co-star Zach Kozyrski.
“I am so pumped [about Locky being The Bachelor], it’s epic. He’s a funny guy, we’ve hung out a bit. I reckon he’ll be making out with everybody,” Zach said.
Meanwhile, fan favourites Shonee Fairfax and Harry “Dirty Harry” Hills said Locky’s adventurous spirit will be a huge drawcard.
“I think Locky will be a good Bachelor! He’s very adventurous so I’m sure all the dates will be outdoorsy, I can definitely picture him making a girl jump out of a plane,” Shonee said.
Harry added: “The dude’s handsome, super tall, he’s an adventurer. He’s pretty laid-back and down-to-earth when you actually get to know him pretty well.
“So I actually think it makes a lot of sense. He will really connect with a lot of people.”
Mark “Tarzan” Herlaar notoriously clashed with Locky during their stints on All Stars, but the long-haired legend is surprisingly looking forward to his rival being the dating show’s leading man.
“Locky and me in the past have been Survivor enemies but I’ve got to tell you when we caught up not long ago and I heard he was going to be the Bachelor I was so chuffed for him,” Tarzan confessed.
“I’ve never watched the show before but I am going to watch this religiously! I wish him the best of luck.”
The Bachelor premieres 7.30pm August 12 on Ten
