If you’ve also been enthralled by the debut season of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story, you’re not alone. And sadly, it’s coming to its heartbreaking end.
Over eight episodes, we’ve watched America’s royal couple, John F Kennedy Jr (Paul Anthony Kelly) and Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon), meet, fall in love, get engaged, say ‘I do’, and then grapple with the downward spiral of public scrutiny and intense media attention. All, by the way, while they looked good doing it (backwards flat caps are back in!).
For the ninth and last episode, we’ll now get to see their final moments before the tragedy that shook the world.

What to expect from the Love Story season finale?
It’s likely that the final episode will follow the tragic deaths of John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette, who shockingly died in a plane crash in 1999 off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. The couple, along with Carolyn’s sister, Lauren Bessette, were all killed on impact on July 21, while they were on their way to a wedding in Cape Cod.
Viewers will remember that in Episode 1, the series opened with a scene of them boarding the light plane, with John F Kennedy Jr piloted, and fly off. However, the episode then jumps right back to before the couple met.
While we don’t know if the show will feature a recreation of the fatal crash, or just the global aftermath of their deaths, Constance Zimmer, who portrays Carolyn Bessette’s mother, told Decider that the final episode will “be very, very difficult for everybody to watch.”
