New season, new partner, new disturbing crime. Welcome back to TV, Luther.
DCI John Luther (Elba) has returned to work, on the hunt for a bold and brutal serial killer whose murders might just provoke the odd nightmare in viewers. If that wasn’t enough to keep the detective on his toes, Luther is visited by a couple of old, well, you wouldn’t exactly call them friends. Gangster George Cornelius’ (Patrick Malahide) son has been taken and he comes to Luther seeking answers as only he can.
Meanwhile, the policeman discovers what has become of perpetual thorn-in-his-side Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson). As creator Neil Cross weaves the various plot threads in and out of one another, a gripping tale unfolds that is as dark and gritty as we have come to expect from the British crime series, which, with four episodes this season, has more time to breathe than Season 4.
