Married At First Sight fans turned on Cathy Evans when an anonymous source claimed she was not only a paid actress but scored a spot on the show because she’s best friends with the executive casting producer.

WATCH: Cathy says Josh leaked stories about her

Now, after weeks of silence and steering clear of the spotlight, Cathy has shared her thoughts on the drama, vehemently denying these accusations and admitting she knows who was behind the sneaky leak— her television husband, Josh Pihlak.

“What is completely absurd about this comment is that it is absolutely untrue. My best friend Megan is not a casting producer for MAFS,” the furious makeup artist told AB & Ben from Coffs Coast’s HIT105.5.

“She has no persuasion on the editing or how they choose the cast members. She was a runner for the show. I was quite shocked that this article was written about us and I knew who had come up with this information… It was my ex-husband. He leaked it.”

Meanwhile, Josh’s mother continues to push this ‘actress’ narrative, berating her on Facebook last week in a nasty post that’s since garnered a lot of negative attention. Replying to Josh’s post in which he claimed the producers intentionally pieced together multiple scenes to make his family look nasty, his mum wrote: “Actress from hell.”

Another family member then weighed in on the rant, writing: “We did well to keep our gobs shut until now! Cathy is playing a victim! The tears, definitely trying to get on Home and Away. She’s playing her role well, sort of.”

“She was a paid actress hunny, employed by producers,” the truck driver’s mum added.

Understandably, Cathy was deeply hurt by her social media takedown however says it proves she’s equally as nasty when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“Where’s my paycheck then?” she said on Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny when asked whether she really is an “actress from hell”. “How can you say that? It’s not a good look and it really just confirms that how she was in person is the same as she is online.”

She continued: “If you can bully me in person and make me feel very intimidated and threatened by you when you’re sitting right in front of me… She’s only confirming that she’s really like that by being so callous and rude online. You’re not doing yourself any favours.”
