On Tuesday March 28, Confidential reported that the 25-year-old’s beau, Dean Gibbs, a former Victorian Police Officer, was sentenced to 12 months jail in 2014 for trafficking cocaine, and fined $300 for drug possession.

Maitland later took to Instagram (which is now on private) to share this message:“I think it needs to be said that everyone is their own person and can do as they please and if it has no direct impact on your life then shut the f*** up and keep your opinion to yourself.”

Last month Gibbs shared a photo with Maitland to his Instagram profile (also now private), gushing about the reality contestant in his caption.

“Catching up with this legend! One of the strongest, most down to earth, kindest is people I know!” he wrote.
