Soon after Married At First Sight’s Cheryl Maitland announced that she’s dating Dean Gibbs, his dark past was revealed.
The Daily Mail reported that the 30-year-old plumber is a disgraced ex-cop who was convicted for drug trafficking.
Gibbs pleaded guilty to five drug-related charges in 2014 including trafficking, cocaine use and possession of steroids and ecstasy.
Now, Gibbs has spoken out for the first time since his past went public.
He took to Instagram to upload a photo with his reality star girlfriend and captioned the pic:
“The couples that are meant to be, are the ones that go through everything that is meant to tear them apart and come out even stronger,” he wrote.
He added: “This girl” and tagged Maitland.
Earlier this week, Cheryl announced that she’s dating Gibbs by sharing a photo of the pair on Instagram.
“And then there was you #thankgodhedidntpullouthisguitar,” she captioned the pic.
