As he stood before the altar, Patrick Miller didn’t expect he would end up heartbroken, but months later he’s still picking up the pieces of love lost and struggling to deal with over-excited fans.
Patrick, who shot to fame during Season 5 of Married At First Sight, tells WHO that despite garnering the attention of “so many people,” he has faced more difficulty in his quest to find love since being on the series.
“A lot of people who talk to me now wouldn’t have talked to me in my previous life,” the 34-year-old operations manager concedes.
The series “nice guy” says with such a busy life “it’s hard to give someone the time that they deserve. My profile has changed totally post-show.”
He insists dating is still on his agenda. “[Dating] is not something that I’m shying away from or scared of, but it’s hard to speak to everyone. And when you don’t speak to everyone they get a bit upset with you,” he says.
“I’ve spoken to a couple of girls, but then all of a sudden I don’t talk to them because I’ve got so many things going on and it doesn’t work. In terms of finding love, being on MAFS has actually made things more difficult.”
But Patrick is not the only one who has been hurting post-show. His mother, Ruby, has also been challenged by her son’s new- found fame. “In the beginning, it was a bit much for her because she didn’t know how she was going to be played out on TV,” he says.
While he has been busy forging an acting and modelling career, Patrick says he won’t say no to returning to reality TV—even confessing he’d love to be the next Bachelor.
“They need a nice guy,” he adds. “It would be someone that the girls would actually want to get to know and start a life with. Not just playing the game.”
