They were one of Australia’s favourite Married At First Sight couples, but it appears things were vastly different for Susan Rowlings and Sean Hollands off-air.
After TV bride Rowlings, 37, alleged that the farmer was a “completely different person off camera“, Rowlings has now told his side of the story.
Speaking to TheFix, the father-of-two disagreed with the truck driver’s statement.
“I feel that I’m just the same,” he said when asked if he thought he was a different person away from the show. “Susan and I haven’t seen each other in person since the experiment, since the reunion. We’ve spoken on the phone, but we haven’t seen each other in person. Honestly, I don’t know what I’ve done wrong.”
He also responded to Rowlings’ claims that he did not have time to see her after the cameras stopped rolling.
“We were still talking up until probably halfway through the episodes aired, then she became hard to talk to,” he said.
“I went straight back to work as soon as we renewed the vows. I told her that after a couple of stints I’d probably be able to catch up in person, but I just had all this work. I couldn’t just sit around and not do all of this stuff. That’s what you have to do on the farm. I think it’s hard for Susan to understand,” he continued.
“I did want to catch up with Susan, but we both had our own things we needed to do after being away from home for three months.”

Yesterday Rowlings said that despite his children crying for their father to go home, he refused, instead staying on the show to save money for his first overseas trip.
“For legal reasons, I don’t want to talk about my kids. All I will say is, when you’re a parent with kids, you’re away from them for one day, they miss you,” he has aid in response to his ex’s comments. “No matter how long you’re going to be away, they miss you. It wasn’t like what she was saying.”
Hollands claims he has tried to contact his former bride since she spoke out about the show and his personality, but he hasn’t had any luck.
“I’ve tried contacting her and reaching out, but she’s not answering the phone, not answering text messages, and doesn’t want to talk. I don’t know what’s going on.”
