He was once a teen-Idol himself before bringing joy to us on Australian Idol as a judge, but Mark Holden has made his way back onto our screens on channel 9’s breakfast show TODAY.
The former TV star had a chat with Sonia Kruger and David Campbell about the state of the music industry and we couldn’t help but notice he almost looks unrecognisable in comparison to his days on Idol.
And just in case you can’t believe your eyes, here is another shot.
His new appearance aside, Holden discussed the state of the Australian music industry with hosts Sonia Kruger and David Campbell.
He even claimed that Guy Sebastian didn’t gain a higher level of fame based on his cultural background – due to alleged racism in the industry.
“Consider Idol; Guy Sebastian. Why was Guy Sebastian not signed by EMI, Universal, any of the major labels?” Holden questioned.
“Why would you not sign a dude as obviously talented as Guy Sebastian? I’ll tell you why: 99.99% of the acts this small group of A&R people and record companies sign were white and male.”
“Occasionally a wog would get through, occasionally a woman would get through, but if you were Asian — forget it,” he openly stated.
Holden has since left show business behind and now practises at a full-time barrister.
