MUST WATCH: MAFS’ Cathy and Josh leave the experiment

What started out as the most promising pair of the season is now over red rover.

‘I was very hesitant going into that home stay. Yeah, I’d put some walls up, for me, to protect myself. I definitely tried to engage in,’ Cathy told the show’s experts, insisting that she tried her hardest to avoid making it a ‘miserable experience’ after a tough week with Josh.

Josh insisted that he did everything to make his wife happy in the lead-up to another face-off with his infamous mum. ‘I just got a vibe she didn’t wanna be there,’ he said of Cathy. ‘It cuts you down.’

‘Josh, do you understand why I was so nervous to go to your home stay?’ Cathy explained that historically, Josh insists that everything in their relationship is roses, until he is in a public setting or with his mother, when he decides to divulge how he ACTUALLY feels about Cathy.

‘First time with your mum. Then at the dinner table. And then on the couch last week,’ she said. The home stay made it a fourth.

‘With my mum, you knew…’, Josh began.

‘Hang on, I’m speaking.,’ Cathy said. ‘When you do it in front of everyone you embarrass me.’

‘Not at all!’ Josh insisted, by Cathy wasn’t buying it.

‘Well, that’s how it feels for me,’ she explained. ‘Last week very positive, there was gonna be no issues. And when you said there that there were issues, I was like, “What?” That was really hurt.

‘So I was afraid to go to your home stay.’

Cathy told the group that it hurts her when Josh says she didn’t try, because even the viewers know she gave it her all.

‘We were very, very hopeful for the two of you,’ the experts told them.

‘I was hopeful too,’ Josh said. ‘You know, I still do care about Cathy a lot. You know, I’m sorry for hurting you. It was never my intention. Um…

‘You know, I came here to find love. I know that I have many flaws, but I’ve been through so much with you. Had some unreal memories with Cathy.’

Remembering their wedding day, he said: ‘Just seeing her and looking at her beautiful eyes and she made me feel so warm.’

Expert John said to them both, ‘As a couple, you two have clearly got some major obstacles. We’re gonna go to the decision now. Stay or leave. Let’s start with you, Cathy. What do you wanna do?’

In tears, Cathy said she would be leaving, as did Josh.
