Another day, another dodgy editing job! During last night’s episode of Married At First Sight, eagle-eyed viewers noticed yet another editing fail just moments before Mishel Karen met her groom Steve Burley at the alter.

Bracing herself to tie the knot with a complete stranger, after slipping into her gorgeous gown the overly nervous school teacher followed her family into a white Ford Falcon. However, upon their arrival at the Melbourne venue, a sweeping shot showed the 38-year-old— who literally begged the driver to turn around— stepping out of a Chrysler limousine. In case you are unaware, this vehicle is noticeably different in both shape and size.
It’s likely post-production accidentally included a shot of the wrong car, or Mishel bizarrely requested to travel in two vehicles which seems very unlikely!
This is the second rookie mistake fans of the unconventional dating experiment have seen in the last week. While most were focused on the insane drama unfolding on last Thursday night’s episode, some noticed a few inconsistencies in Cathy Evan and Josh Pihlak’s romantic spa date.
Basically, after seductively stripping down to a tiny bikini, Cathy took off her white robe and began walking down the steps with dry hair. Then, after the camera cut to Josh to grab his immediate reaction to his beautiful bride’s figure, Cathy finally enter the water with wet hair.
Clearly, the logistics investigator was asked to dip in and out of the water more than once in the hope of seizing the perfect shot.
Then, during her raunchy kiss with Josh, Cathy’s hair was wet, then dry, then wet again, suggesting multiple takes were poorly pieced together.
While these mishaps are minor and pretty easy to miss, it makes you wonder what else is pieced together to create a tighter and more dramatic narrative? A lot, according to MAFS bride Stacey Hampton.
Yesterday, the soon-to-be lawyer tore into Nine Network producers for making her look like a “gold digger”, claiming they intentionally edited multiple scenes from her wedding ceremony with Michael Goonan in an attempt to portray her in a negative light. The mum-of-two even suggested someone on set secretly gave her bridesmaid a phone in the hope of stirring up some drama.
As we saw, Stacey it appeared as though Stacey instantly changed her mind about her goofy groom when her pal said she’d Googled the wealthy entrepreneur who’s the director of his family’s business, Adelaide Ice— South Australia’s largest ice manufacturing and packaging company.
“They weren’t showing a lot of bits,” she said while appearing on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa yesterday morning.
“The phone thing… No one in reception had a phone so I felt it very bizarre my friend just happened to have one,” Stacey said, implying some shady business was going on behind the scenes. “That was very weird.”
Referencing the following scene where Stacey revealed she was finally ready to give Michael the time of day, the mum-of-two said: “Then it cuts to me giving him a chance. I said that before she even brought the phone out. They chopped that bit in after. Ask people who were there, ask my girlfriends.”
Interestingly, when they spoke to Michael— who was working in Adelaide and couldn’t make it into the studio— he hinted producers weren’t to blame for Stacey’s terrible portrayal.
“I think at the end of the day, they’re making a TV show but the wedding was that awkward. It was a rocky start,” he said tersely.
