In a deeply personal interview, the brave bodybuilder— who’s tipped to ruffle a few feathers on the controversial dating experiment— opened up about her insidious decade long drug addiction and the detrimental impact it had on her once-happy life.
“I battled things most women my age could only imagine… homelessness, mental abuse, physical abuse,” the 32-year-old candidly admitted.
“So what I can bring to the table is something that far outweighs my past,” she said of why she decided to joins the hit series.
The finance broker went on to say she spent her twenties battling with addiction, telling Daily Mail Australia last week that she “only used meth and cannabis”.
“I have been nothing but honest about my past and they are taking my honesty for a spin,” she said, referring to a local publication’s source who claimed Hayley had “been using meth and heroin since the age of 16”.
Hayley made her debut on MAFS last night, instantly rubbing her co-stars the wrong way. After meeting the other brides, it looked as though she dominated the conversation, with some becoming increasingly frustrated that they couldn’t get a word in.
Clearly excited to get started on her quest for romance, she was eager to share with her fellow would-be wives exactly what she was hoping to get from the experiment. But she was so keen to share that she ended up hijacking questions intended for the other girls.
“Hayley does talk a lot,” Mishel offered to camera, saying what everyone in the room (and on the couch watching) was thinking. “I think she’s got a lot of things to say and she’s quite excited. But some people are a little bit quieter, and it’s hard to get two words in sometimes.”
But things took a turn when Hayley didn’t give the new girl, Vanessa Romito, a chance to get to know the group.
“So what do you do for work?” Cathy asked Vanessa.
But before she could answer, Hayley’s voice rose over the room.
“…I need someone that’s masculine,” she said, oblivious to Cathy’s attempts to intro Vanessa to the group.
Clearly frustrated, Stacey Hampton stepped in, instantly shutting down Hayley’s attempts to control the conversation.
“HAYLEY. We need to reel this in and we need to stick to Vanessa for a bit…”
“I’m sorry…” Hayley replied. “I know, you’re amazing but…” Stacey patted her on the shoulder. “She’s the newest, we need to talk to her.”
