As the rest of Australia scolds Married At First Sight’s Hayley Vernon for her questionable behaviour and hot-headedness, Jessika Power is throwing her support behind this year’s villain.
EXCLUSIVE: Jessika Power reacts to Hayley and David’s relationship
After last night’s explosive episode aired and the bodybuilder clashed with her on-screen husband over her remarks about his “concerning” $25 an hour wage, Jess rushed to Hayley’s defence, suggesting David is also to blame.
“David reminds me a lot of Mick [Gould],” she told WHO exclusively, referring to her MAFS ex-husband. “He would say one thing off-camera and another thing on camera. He would always go out of his way to make me feel humiliated.”
She went on to admit Mick had a tendency of lying to Jess and concealing how he really felt about their relationship, only to throw her under the bus when the cameras were rolling or their co-stars were present. Interestingly, she predicts David will do the same to her pal, Hayley.
“I remember there were commitment ceremonies where I knew something was wrong because we’d had an argument prior. I would always say, ‘hey, is everything ok?’ and he’d say, ‘all good darling, we’re fine’. Then, the second there was a camera and a crowd in front of us, he’d say all of these things I had no idea were going on between us.
“I really see that in David and I hope for Hayley’s sake he’s not like that.
Jess also revealed was proud of Hayley for telling her hubby and millions of viewers who tune in each night that she’s a recovering drug addict.
“Hayley revealed she was a drug addiction and that would be a massive thing to tell your new husband— someone you only just met,” said the former MAFS contestant, who infamously cheated on Mick with co-star Dan Webb. “For her to be able to tell him that— good on you girl.”
“She shared that with the cast, camera crews and the nation. And coming from someone who knows a lot about scrutiny, that is something that she didn’t have to share with you guys. I hope that in this situation, we can learn something and not be ashamed. It’s something you can pull yourself out of.”
When Hayley broke the news to David that she once turned to drugs to cope with the stresses of life, he said all the right things!
“I’m not dating someone from five years ago,” David admitted. “If I think back to myself five years ago, I’m nowhere near the same person. So I don’t judge Hayley on her drug use.
“I’m glad she told me. I don’t want secrets with my wife. It doesn’t faze me. Her past doesn’t affect her future.”
