Cathy Evans began Monday night’s episode of Married At First Sight in tears – and ended it on a heartbreaking note, too.

MUST WATCH: MAFS’ Cathy walks out on Josh

It took Cathy a lot of courage to get to home visits.

After being completely blindsided at the commitment ceremony a day earlier, the YouTuber feared facing Josh Pihlak’s mum for a second time – after she was slammed by her husband’s mother weeks prior because Josh seriously embellished a disagreement they’d had.

Cathy told viewers she worried there’d be ‘another war at the dinner table’ with Josh’s mum, but he assured her there’s no chance of that, and that his mother was excited to see her.

Cathy reminded Australia that Josh liked to make promises and say every is rosey, before making public statements to the contrary and throwing his wife under the bus, unnecessarily.

‘My main issue is that if Josh has any issues, that he’ll raise them in a public space,’ Cathy told him and viewers, but once again, Josh reassured her that he would do nothing of the sort.

Josh promised Cathy that he’d only told his mother positive things about their relationship since the last time they met.

I promise you. You’ve got nothing to worry about.’

Then they arrived at his mother’s home, where she fired off the hard questions, and insults, straight off the bat.

‘Do either of you have any regrets unfolded since the wedding day?’ she began.

Josh was quick to respond, just like he did all those weeks ago when he told furphies.

‘Um… in a lot of ways, I just think we’re very different if that makes sense,’ he began. Cathy was confused.

‘There’s been instances where Cathy’s gotten upset about something which, you know, that I wouldn’t get upset about.

‘Sometimes I feel like Cathy’s not interested in what I’ve got to say or she tunes out.’

Cathy is shocked. The Mummy’s boy was literally dibber-dobbing on his wife! And for what?

‘OK. This is bad. Thrown under the bus again. Straight away,’ Cathy said to producers, tears welling up.

That’s when Josh’s mum swooped in. ‘When I was in Sydney last. It was a little bit, I dunno. It wasn’t going good and I could tell that you were really upset,’ she said to her son, before turning her attention to Cathy.

‘So that made me a little bit fiery down there toward you, Cath. Because you [Josh] were in isolation… I think that’s what changed the dynamic of that relationship.

‘I think evidently, the three days where you isolated him, that’s where it came from.’

Cathy had zero support, and her husband let his mother continue to slam his new bride. ‘I have never felt so alone in this experiment,’ Cathy said.

Josh insisted that he was just ‘being honest.’

Josh’s mum finished the awkward exchange with, ‘I’m proud of you’ to Josh, who instantly looks like a child, not the burly, motorbike-riding tradie he claims to be.
