When it comes to Married At First Sight Australia, there are dramatic confrontations and awkward conversations aplenty. For bride Domenica Calarco, there was nothing off-limits to discuss with her groom Jack Millar. Including period sex.

After enjoying an instant connection and sexual chemistry with her groom Jack, makeup artist Domenica says she’s not going to let taboo topics derail them.
While they enjoyed an instant sexual connection with each other on their wedding night, things have since taken a step back as Jack pulls back from Domenica.
As their hot start began to cool off, she became worried she was doing all the work to keep the intimacy going, even posing the question: “How hard is it to get a root?’’
As it turns out, it was all in the timing. Domenica tells WHO that when she realised he was avoiding having sex with her while she was menstruating, she was happy to tackle it in front of the cameras and hopes it’s a conversation that more couples have.
“I’m definitely not one to shy away from the difficult topics,” she says.
When Domenica asked if Jack was avoiding sleeping with her because she was on her period, he revealed it was something he had never done before.
“It’s a new ballgame for me, I’ve never had sex with anyone on their period,” he told her, which made Domenica all the more glad she had broached the topic.
“Women have just become accustomed to putting their needs aside during that week or when they are menstruating. We need to make it less taboo. I have urges and I want to be still desired during that time. We all need to speak about it,” Domenica says.
“I think it’s about time we see strong, empowered women on Australian TV. I think for a while it’s been about men empowered by their sexuality and feeling good about themselves, but it’s always been this taboo thing for women to feel empowered by their own sexuality. I don’t understand why it has to be taboo.”
As viewers saw on Wednesday night, Domenica wasn’t the only one open to discussing the topic on television. Her groom caught up with fellow contestants Jackson Lonie and Al Perkins to chat through the situation.
While Al was once again critiqued by viewers for his response – asking Jack if it was because girls are all “moody and s–t” – Jackson had some sage advice. He told Jack to talk things through with Domenica and share how his experiences had shaped his response.
Those experiences, from Jack’s perspective, came down to the fact that his previous partners preferred not to be intimate on their periods. When asked by the cameras if Domenica had changed his mind, she gave a heavy hint.
“I definitely have, I’ll just say that,” she said, adding, “I don’t know, is that giving too much away?”
Having made it through the rough patch, Domenica and Jack are looking stronger than ever on our screens. As for off-screen, there are plenty of clues these two are still together.
Married At First Sight Australia airs Monday to Wednesday, 7:30pm, and Sunday, 7pm, on Nine Network and 9Now.
