It’s no secret that Married At First Sight participants are not able to fully talk about what goes down behind the scenes, due to a confidentiality agreement with production.
One groom however, has completely gone rogue and thrown that agreement out the window, to expose what actually happened at the dinner party reunion.
In Wednesday night’s episode of MAFS, viewers were treated to all the grooms and brides of season eight reuniting for a drama-packed dinner party.
One moment in particular that caught people’s attention was when Liam Cooper walked in, and greeted everyone except his former wife, Georgia Fairweather.
The seemingly petty move did not go over well with fans, with even the show’s experts calling it a “rude” act.
“Oh, how rude! That is not ok. Total disrespect. He rejected her. Made a point to publicly reject her,” Alessandra Rampolla said.
Although, Liam has broken his silence after the episode aired, to reveal that not all is as it seems.
In footage obtained by the So Dramatic! podcast, Liam took to his Snapchat to say that the real reason why he didn’t acknowledge Georgia, is because of that video that went viral of fellow groom Jason Engler.
“Tonight was solely based around the video that came out from Georgia, Johnny, Jason. That video was f***ing disgusting,” Liam said.
The video in question saw Jason on a drunken and homophobic rant about Liam being bisexual, and featured in the footage was fellow MAFS star Johnny Balbuziente and Liam’s on-screen bride Georgia.
In the leaked video obtained by Daily Mail Australia, Jason made a number of comments about Liam, including his sexuality and weight.
“Can I say Georgia’s husband, a**, w**ker, I can’t remember what his name is – Liam – is 110 per cent and is a wanker and Georgia is better than him,” Jason says in the video.
He went on say to that “Georgia’s husband is full-blown homosexual” and that he is “ugly, fat, and he is chubby.”
Liam explained in his own video that at the dinner party he “questioned” Jason and “pulled” Georgia on the shocking footage.
“Jason just sat there with a smug look on his face and didn’t even want to talk about it,” he said.
“Georgia sat there and said that she was sorry, and then I said to her ’no you’re only sorry because you’ve been called out’,” he continued.
He adds that “everyone else” at the reunion “jumped in” and they all spoke about it. But none of that was aired.
“Like to literally sit there and edit this out and make me look like I just walked in there and ignored Georgia for sh**s and gigs is purely disgusting,” Liam said of the show’s edit.
Fellow MAFS star Carly Bowyer, who appeared on season five, also had something to say about the way the show is edited.
“During my season, my husband cracked onto another wife at a dinner party in week 2. We had a massive fight at the dinner party, we moved to separate rooms, and I said leave because of it at the next commitment ceremony,” she said.
“Literally none of it made it to the edit. They do whatever they want to suit their narrative,” she continued.
Tash Herz, who is also a former MAFS bride, added: “They did something similar to me and I know that feeling of rage and frustration watching the experts comment on your cool behaviour without addressing WHY you are upset.
“@lcoop_13 well done speaking your truth! Everyone shows their true colours in the end, take. It. From. Me,” she commented.
