In the wake of her explosive accusations against Luke Eglin, unearthed footage has surfaced showing an enraged Poppy Jennings ripping into her on-screen husband long before we saw their dysfunctional relationship unravel on Married At First Sight.
WATCH EXCLUSIVELY: Poppy’s foul-mouthed rant
In the jaw-dropping clip, obtained exclusively by Who online on February 19, the brunette photographer can be seen sharing a few drinks with her friends while attending a MAFS viewing party at a local bar. Clearly overcome with emotion watching the premiere episode back, Poppy’s sadness soon turned to anger when Luke made his reality TV debut, screaming at the top of her lungs in front of dozens of partygoers: “He’s a f***ing c**t”.
She then proceeded to call him a “fat c**t” before quickly composing herself again.
Those around the mum-of-two looked visibly shocked and confused by her outburst seeing as she all but confirmed the fate of their marriage just moments before we saw her walk down the aisle.
The video comes less than a day after Poppy unleashed on Luke in a scathing social media post, accusing him of doing something so horrible, even the show’s producers barred her from revealing the “petrifying” incident that actually forced her to exit the show early.
“I was matched with someone who cheated on his wife, didn’t live in the same state and wasn’t dad of the year by any means,” the bride said in a lengthy Facebook rant yesterday, calling Luke’s character into question. “The experts never met him!!! He was fake on camera and a complete dick behind the scenes! It was infuriating.
“I was uncomfortable with all the things about this person I was matched with that didn’t add up. But I was told, ‘Poppy, on camera and off camera doesn’t exist to the public,'” she said.
“I was so scared I was saying sh*t like, ‘this could work’ because they [producers] told me Australia was going to f***ing hate me. F**k, I’d probably hate me too! From what I heard that’s all they play of me!”
Since her rant sent fans and the network into a tailspin, Poppy’s best friend Susie revealed more worrying details about her simmering feud with Luke, claiming she’s called in the lawyers to help her deal with the battle that’s predicted to implode.
“[Poppy] needs to have an understanding of what she can and can’t say,” Susie told Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson on-air this morning, adding the mum-of-two also sought legal support because she’s been barred by MAFS producers from saying her piece.
“It’s all about the show, no one is really caring about how she is feeling. Something happened to her that made her feel uncomfortable, and everybody has just brushed it off like it’s not important.”
Sadly, Susie also said her close friend has been struggling since more details about the incident have come to light, admitting the backlash has taken a toll on her mental health.
“She’s not well, I’ll tell you that. She has not been well since she left the show. She tells me she can’t sleep and is having night tremors. I tell her not to stress about it and that everything will be okay. She’s so upset about how everything went down and that she can’t be herself. It has affected her.”
Luke has since broken his silence on the drama, telling The Daily Telegraph: “I am not going to make any comments because, honestly, the best way to react is not to react. To be honest, Poppy is a good person and the best of luck to her. I am not going to comment on anything because it is not worth it, it really isn’t.”
The FIFO worker concluded: “Honestly, she just needs to move on like I have and that is it. We are finished on the show and that is as far as it goes.”
In conjunction, Channel Nine and Endemol Shine also released an official statement to News.com.au, revealing the Network’s representatives have been in contact with Poppy.
“We have seen Poppy’s post and note her distress,” the statement read. “We have reached out to her to offer support and won’t be making any further public comment and will focus on doing our best to support both Poppy and Luke.”
