Many felt deep sympathy for Luke Eglin when his Married At First Sight bride, Poppy Jennings, abruptly quit the series without providing what was deemed to be a reasonable explanation.

Receiving a sea of support from Australian viewers, many-sided with the jilted groom— especially after she begged producers to break up with him for her— branding Poppy the “worst and most annoying MAFS contestant in history”.
However, since her shock exit sparked outrage, the photographer has lifted the lid on what was really going on behind the scenes, revealing in an explosive Facebook status that the FIFO worker isn’t as innocent and as wholesome as he seems. In fact, she claims he’s to blame for the majority of her on-screen meltdowns.
“I was matched with someone who cheated on his wife, didn’t live in the same state and wasn’t dad of the year by any means,” the bride said in a lengthy rant calling Luke’s character into question. “The experts never met him!!! He was fake on camera and a complete dick behind the scenes! It was infuriating.
“I was uncomfortable with all the things about this person I was matched with that didn’t add up. But I was told, ‘Poppy, on camera and off camera doesn’t exist to the public,'” she said, adding she was constantly fearful of how she was going to be portrayed.
“I was so scared I was saying sh*t like, ‘this could work’ because they [producers] told me Australia was going to f***ing hate me. F**k, I’d probably hate me too! From what I heard that’s all they play of me!”
Admitting her honeymoon was four days long but we were only shown six minutes of it, the mother of twin boys said a series of unfortunate and traumatising events occurred during their time away when MAFS showrunners weren’t present.
And while she refrained from revealing where things actually went wrong, she not-so-subtly implied Luke was to blame for her sudden departure.
“I couldn’t say what was happening behind the scenes as it was too controversial. Why is Luke crying when I left??? Go and ask Luke why I was so uncomfortable????? Why the f**k did I really leave?? He’s petrified I am going to talk. He knows he f***ed up. Those tears from him are for his reputation and job!”
She continued: “He’s scared sh**less I will tell the truth. I was afraid to speak up! But f**k this s**t I’m going to tell everything!!! It’s not what you see, it’s what you don’t see!”
While it’s abundantly clear there are underlying issues which will never be resolved, it’s comforting to know that after all of this pain, Poppy has finally found love. Last week, the 38-year-old— who was not wearing her wedding ring—was pictured locking lips and cuddling up to her new beau who she reportedly began dating just before this season of MAFS hit out screen.
At this point in time, the identity of her new boyfriend remains unknown.
