Married at First Sight producers are going above and beyond to ensure that next season of the controversial series will be more outrageous than the last. How is this even possible, you ask? Well, according to the Daily Mail, Channel Nine showrunners are hoping to make history by casting a transgender bride.

An unnamed groom who applied for the show reportedly copped a “grilling” about whether he’d be open to dating someone who’d transitioned from male to female.
“The producer asked me if I wanted to date a transgender woman during my interview. It was obvious that they were hoping I’d say yes,” the source told the outlet before adding that the interviewer seemed “surprised and disappointed” when he said he “wasn’t into it”.
Rumours of the plan surfaced earlier this year when the application for season seven of the social experiment included additional gender opinions.
“Please advise the type of person you are seeking to be matched with,” one of the personal questions read.
“For example, someone from the opposite sex, same sex or transgender/intersex/other.”
Last season’s contestant farmer Mick Gould, confirmed the speculation on Instagram after he received a direct message from someone who’d reached the second round of casting.
“A fella from my town just had a Skype interview with MAFS and they are trying to get him to say yes to being open to marrying a transgender female,” he wrote. “Just thought I would let you know that next season is going to be crazy haha.”
