“I’m so happy, because I feel like I’m a different person after all this,” Heidi says. “I feel like this taught me so much. MAFS is like going to counselling, seeing a psychologist – it’s like doing personal development and personal growth, times a thousand.”

Nonetheless, one thing she still struggles with is knowing that along with her break-up from Mike, came distance from his loved ones. “I loved his family so much … That was the worst part – they are some of the most beautiful people,” she revealed. Still, Heidi has continued to keep in contact with some friends she made while she was romantically linked to her ex.

“Some of his friends have been incredible as well. So I hope they’re always a part of my life. Yeah, some of his friends are really beautiful.”

Asked if she’s seen Mike since their split, she says there was nothing beyond the publicity circuit they endured while promoting the show.

“It was hard. It was hard to do, because when you break up with someone, you normally break up and then you have the choice, you don’t ever have to see them again. Or you’d have to communicate with them. But we saw each other at a few things and that was tricky, that was hard.”

Would she be keen for a reunion?

“We just have completely different lives. That was my life, that was my relationship and then, because we’re not in a relationship now, it’s not. I honestly don’t even think about it anymore.

Although she had a difficult experience when the show aired, Heidi says she refuses to give up on love. “I have not met a single soul … I have not even been on a date. I’m ready, actually. Just to go on a date or something.”
